14 July 2025   |    News
Last week we wrote to the United Nations Independent Expert on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity alongside 16 other LGBTI+ equality and human rights organisations to raise concerns about the human rights of trans people right now in the UK since the Supreme Court judgment in For Women Scotland Ltd v Scottish Ministers and the EHRC’s proposed Code of Practice.

We asked the Independent Expert to write to the UK Minister for Equalities, Bridget Phillipson MP, to highlight the potential human rights violations if the EHRC Code of Practice in its current form were to be approved to become statutory guidance.
Equality Network and Scottish Trans also produced a human rights analysis report to provide context to the developing situation in the UK and to detail the various human rights that are at risk. Our report, ‘The Erosion of Trans Rights in the UK’, is available here: https://www.equality-network.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/The-Erosion-of-Trans-Rights-in-the-UK-a-human-rights-analysis.pdf
